From inventing CPR and the Pentium Pro chip to winning an Oscar and the Nobel Peace Prize, members of the University of Pittsburgh community have made an impact on the world.
A new permanent exhibit on the first floor of Alumni Hall introduces these and many more individual accomplishments and achievements that tell the ongoing story of Pitt. Through two interactive kiosks—Pitt in the World and The Pitt Experience—the individual stories of alumni, faculty, and students demonstrate the opportunities for success and intellectual adventure that Pitt has to offer.
For alumni, the gallery relates the stories of fellow graduates of whom they can be proud, as well as current faculty who continue Pitt’s tradition of achievement.
The gallery illustrates not only the respect that Pitt holds for its alumni, but also the value of a Pitt education.
For students and their parents, the gallery provides the opportunity to learn how Pitt people have achieved greatness in fields ranging from literature to public fields to neuroscience. These examples help prospective and current students envision how Pitt and its renowned faculty can help them achieve their own dreams.
For the Pitt community at large, the Legacy Gallery reveals many untold stories of accomplishment and distinction that originated within the community— reinforcing in everyone a greater sense of pride to be part of Pitt.
